350 kg/m3 Autoclaved Aerated Concrete

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) belongs to the group of lightweight concrete materials that have undergone a porous steam curing process. It is a lightweight construction material with low thermal conductivity, high strength, and low density.

Its composition includes ground quartzite, gypsum, cement, lime, and recycled AAC materials (slurry and dust). Water and aluminum powder are added to the mixture and mixed until it becomes homogeneous. The resulting mixture is then poured into molds. The aluminum starts to react in the alkaline environment, and the hydrogen gas produced creates pores within the mass, which then exits without leaving any residue. The pores, typically ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 mm in diameter, are filled with air. After the cement begins to set, semi-solid raw blocks are formed, and after high-precision cutting, AAC building materials are created from these blocks. The structural components take their final form after undergoing a steam curing process at approximately 190˚C under about 12 bar pressure in units called autoclaves for 5-12 hours.

The materials used naturally form calcium hydro silicate equivalents of tobermorite, a mineral that is naturally occurring. Once the reaction is complete, the material enters the autoclave. After exiting the autoclave, the material gains its strength. Once the curing process is complete, the steam produced is reused in subsequent autoclave cycles. The AAC blocks are then stacked on wooden pallets and shrink-wrapped with polyethylene packaging.
